Highlights & babylights

Highlights and babylights in Copenhagen

Fine, light strands close to the scalp or classic highlights with movement and depth – placed precisely in foil and toned so the shade is exactly right for you.

Blonde hair with highlights and soft waves, seen from behind

Highlights are the classic route to lighter hair with movement: the hair is lightened in fine sections from the scalp outwards, so the result is even and bright with plenty of dimension. Babylights are the finest version – extra-fine strands that mimic the naturally sun-bleached shades of children's hair.

At Lumé by Trine, the foils are placed by hand with care and can be toned afterwards, so you avoid brassy tones and get exactly the shade you agreed on – from cool ash blonde to warm honey. You can also add a Metal-DX treatment alongside the colour, which helps protect the hair while it is lightened.

If you are unsure whether highlights, babylights or balayage suit your hair and your temperament best, Trine is happy to talk it through first – then you can choose the technique that gives the loveliest result with the upkeep you actually want.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions

What do highlights cost in Copenhagen?

At Lumé by Trine, highlights cost DKK 1,869 without a cut and DKK 2,568 with a cut. Babylights cost DKK 2,699 without a cut and DKK 3,398 with a cut. Refreshing highlights (top and sides) costs DKK 1,419 without a cut.

What are babylights?

Babylights are very fine, closely placed strands that lighten the hair softly right from the scalp – inspired by the natural, sun-kissed shades of children's hair. The result is lighter hair that looks natural, without obvious stripes.

How often should highlights be refreshed?

Most people refresh highlights roughly every two to three months, depending on how quickly the hair grows and how much contrast there is with your base colour. Babylights often grow out more gracefully and can last longer between visits. Refreshing the top and sides is an obvious middle ground.

Do highlights turn brassy over time?

Lightened hair can pull warm over time. That is why the strands can be toned, so the shade is right from the start – and you can always book a toner alongside a treatment (DKK 399) if you want to keep the shade cool.

Should I choose highlights or balayage?

Highlights give a more evenly light result from the scalp, while balayage gives a softer, more sun-kissed look with lighter ends. Trine is happy to advise you before you decide – you might start with a colour consultation.
