Before you come

How to prepare for your salon visit

The best treatments start with a clear conversation. With a little preparation, we spend the time on your hair instead of on guesswork.

Bring pictures – both yes and no

Pictures say more than words when it comes to shades and lengths. Bring two or three of something you would like – and ideally an example of something you definitely do not want. The latter is just as useful.

Do bear in mind that light and filters colour a photograph a great deal. We look at them together and translate them into something achievable with your hair as the starting point.

Tell us your hair's history

Box colour, henna, old highlights, a perm or a keratin treatment all affect how the hair reacts when we colour or lighten it. It is not always something that can be seen – so it matters that you tell us.

Do also say if you have had an allergic reaction to colour in the past, or if your scalp is sensitive.

Come with clean, but not freshly washed hair

For colour treatments, a day-old wash is ideal: the hair is clean enough to work with, but the scalp's natural oils protect it during the process. So do not come straight from the shower.

For a cut, on the other hand, it helps to arrive with your hair styled the way you normally wear it. Then we can see how it behaves and how you style it yourself.

  • Colour: wash your hair the day before, not the same morning
  • Cut: come with your hair as you normally wear it
  • Book a consultation first if you are considering a big change
  • Set aside plenty of time – lightening can take several hours

Be honest about your everyday life

How many minutes do you realistically spend on your hair in the morning? Do you use straighteners every day, or do you let it air-dry? How often will you be able to come into the salon?

The answers change what we recommend. A style that needs ten minutes of styling every day is not a good choice if you never reach for the hairdryer – however lovely it looks in the chair.

Book the right thing – or ask us

The price list shows what each treatment includes and what it costs with and without a cut. If you are unsure which treatment suits what you have in mind, write or call before you book.

For bigger colour changes we always recommend starting with a colour consultation, so we can make a plan together.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions

Should I wash my hair before a colour appointment?

Do wash it the day before, but not the same morning. The scalp's natural oils protect it during the colour treatment.

How long does a colour treatment take?

It varies a great deal from treatment to treatment. A toner is quick, while a bigger lightening or a colour correction can take several hours. We will give you a time estimate when you book.

What should I do if I do not know what to book?

Call or write to us before you book. For bigger changes of colour we recommend starting with a colour consultation.
